Property transactions must be carried out in the local currency, the Romanian New Lei otherwise known as the RON.  Despite this, property is normally priced in Euro.

It is possible to open international currency accounts at banks in Romania and transfer funds into Romania for subsequent conversion to RON.

We cannot arrange foreign currency exchange for cash – it must be a direct transfer of funds from bank to bank.  We can assist you with setting up a bank account in Romania which is possible even if you do not plan to visit the country.

Whilst you are in Romania you can use VISA, Access and Maestro cards, among others, to withdraw local currency from the cash machines at the many Romanian and International banks in Romania.
